Profit in All Labour

Zechariah 4:10 “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin… “

There’s nothing like odd jobs… People laugh at young men and women who travelled abroad and are doing ‘minial jobs’ like cleaning, gardening, nursing homes (aged or disability care) tradies, amongst othets… The list is endless…well, not bad if they can earn $35 an hour if you ask me.

When I first moved to Melbourne, I came here with the same mentality, that I wouldn’t do any of these ‘odd jobs,’ but I quickly learnt how wrong I was. I have worked in a nursing home for years, and surprisingly I actually loved it!

If you’ve graduated and are looking for that big break, please please, I ‘Charge you by the gazelles or the does of the field,’ to start somewhere, don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty! The book of wisdom, in the 14th Chapter reminds us that “In all labor there is profit, But idle chatter leads only to poverty!”

No matter how rich I am or will ever be, I made up mind that there’s no job too little for me to do, if it has to be done, then I will get it done somehow! Why? you ask, Well, this is because I found out that when God is involved, everything your hands touches is blessed! So I do not despise the begining of small things, because the scripture shows us that even though the beginning may seem small, the latter days will be very great. Job 8:7

And by the way that mentality that you only do what you love or what you’re passionate about is outdated! Before you do what you love, do what you have to! Pride is what will keep so many poor. Someone once said, “Opportunity is missed by most since it comes dressed in overalls and looks like work!” So go on and Remove that empty pocketed suit, Slip on that apron and let’s get to work!
