**Professional vs Amateur**
The Latin Root of ‘amateur’ is from the Latin word ‘amor’ which means ‘to love.’ that’s what an amateur is: someone who does only what he ‘loves doing’ , not what he ‘Must do!’
An amateur works solely on the basis of enjoyment at no cost. This takes the pressure of Perfectionism off their shoulder. If its piano, they learn only to the extend they need to play and show off to their buddies. More often than not its always the easiest route possible that’s followed.
Who is a professional? Simply put, a professional is someone who does the work that he must do when he must do it. Perfection is non negotiable in professionalism.
PROV 22:29, “If you see a man who is quick to do his work, prompt to do his work, not when he feels like but when it needs to be done, that man will stand with Kings.”
The route to the top is often narrow and full of challenges, but as Thomas Jefferson rightly put, With utmost risk cometh utmost reward.
“Come to God through the narrow gate, because the wide gate and broad path is the way that leads to destruction—nearly everyone chooses that crowded road! The narrow gate and the difficult way leads to eternal life—so few even find it!” Matthew 7:13-14 TPT
Avoid Short cuts at all costs. The ‘get rich quick’ paths are more often filled with tears and regrets. One time I was spending my money on lottery tickets, the Lord warned me clearly against it. So Don’t buy lotteries, it’s scum! Gambling will get you into trouble!
Isn’t it true that our hands were empty when we came into the world, and when we leave this world our hands will be empty again? Because of this, food and clothing is enough to make us content. But those who crave the wealth of this world slip into spiritual snares. They become trapped by the troubles that come through their foolish and harmful desires, driven by greed and drowning in their own sinful pleasures. And they take others down with them into their corruption and eventual destruction. Loving money is the first step toward all kinds of trouble. Some people run after it so much that they have given up their faith. Craving more money pushes them away from the faith into error, compounding misery in their lives! 1 Timothy 6:7-10 TPT
‘Do what Makes you Happy!’ is the Biggest Fattest lie of the Century!!! Do what needs to be Done. Period! Professionalism entails getting off your comfort zone, stepping into the deep waters, riding the waves! It is neither for the weak nor the faint-hearted. Professionals practise mastery, they are disciplined and self controlled!
Isn’t it obvious that all runners on the racetrack keep on running to win, but only one receives the victor’s prize? Yet each one of you must run the race to be victorious. A true athlete will be disciplined in every respect, practicing constant self-control in order to win a laurel wreath that quickly withers. But we run our race to win a victor’s crown that will last forever. For that reason, I don’t run just for exercise or box like one throwing aimless punches, but I train like a champion athlete. I subdue my body and get it under my control, so that after preaching the good news to others I myself won’t be disqualified.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 TPT
Life is not about being happy, Neither is it about legacy. life is about fulfilment of purpose. Nothing beats that. Nothing.
